I made good progress on tonight:

- Implemented new functionality for downloading toot attachments and viewing their alt text (see attached screenshot)

- Added new icon buttons for viewing links/attachments

- Started adding more functionality to menus, so that you can logout or edit prefs or look up users without being in the timeline window

- Lots and lots of bug fixes that most people will hopefully never notice 😅

Almost done with 0.5. The big remaining tasks are to implement user interactions, and squash one last nasty bug on the profile window.

A full-screen capture of a Mac OS 7.1 desktop, showing Macstodon 0.5 running with the new Attachments UI. When a toot is selected, you can click on the paperclip icon to the right of the toot text to open the new Attachments window.

This window lists all the attachments on the toot, by type. Clicking on an attachment enables buttons to either show the alt text associated with the attachment, or to download the attachment to your Mac. Downloading the attachment presents the standard "Save As..." dialog (not shown).

In this picture I am showing a highlighted attachment with the alt text dialog open, but have also downloaded the attachment - an image - and opened it using the QuickTime PictureViewer app.
